Bushranger wines has one key aim: to provide boutique quality wines at mass brand prices. To do this, I search for small pockets of wine (sometimes as little as 5 cases) from tiny producers across Australia. I look for well made, varietally pure, modern, high quality wines that I am happy drinking, and would be happy paying twice the price for. These wines don’t taste like your regular $15 bottle from your local booze shop because they are not made in the same way: the vines are hand-tended, the fruit hand picked and sorted, the wines made by hand in tiny cellars.
I look to retail the wines between $10 and $15, and am able to do this as I don’t have the overheads of renting, lighting, heating and staffing a shop. When tasting the wines for purchase, I blind taste against a well-regarded wine twice the price from the same region, and only buy if the Bushranger wine stands up against it.
I am always happy to hear people’s comments on my wines, and would be delighted to hear from small winemakers who want to work with me. I do this because I enjoy it; I hope others enjoy Bushranger wines too!
